Chords: Advent Calendar 2018 Songbook

Advent+Calendar+Songbook.jpg

My word is my bond. I made a promise – and when I make a promise, I keep it. Always.

I completed my silly, wonderful Advent Calendar endeavour: to publish one Christmas Song per day on YouTube during December, up ‘til Christmas Day, and post the chords for it here. The recordings started off as one take, just me and my ukulele, and grew over time to incorporate multiple layers of backing vocals and harmonies. Some were pretty good, too!

It was an ambitious project, a lot of fun, a big mess, an incredible learning experience, and something I’m tremendously proud of. Come get you the songbook, I did internal links and everything.

While I’m still putting together my thoughts on the Advent Calendar endeavour, here’s the thing you’ve (probably, maybe) been waiting for:

The LivingWithMyMistakes Advent Calendar Songbook.pdf

The pdf has all the songs I did in it, plus a couple of extra that are easy and fun to play. I also corrected a few typos I spotted, and linked the whole thing internally so that you can go to and from the Contents page easily. Nice!

Some of the songs match the original key, some have been transposed to fit a key I find comfortable singing in – regardless, the chords in the book and the videos match!

While I’m playing on a ukulele in all the videos, you can play on guitar, piano, or whatever you like – though you’ll have to transpose for certain instruments like guitalelele. My husband and I like to play together with him on guitar, and me on ukulele, and it sounds very pretty indeed.

I hope you download it and enjoy playing these songs next year. I’m sure you’ll sound beautiful.

Love always,

Fay

P.S. in case you missed it, here’s the Advent Calendar Playlist:

And here’s the very first Advent Calendar blog post, for if you’d like to read the story of this very silly project from the beginning…
