Chords: Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx
No hipster irony. This is a great song. Always has been, always will be. I’ve loved it since it came out in 1989, and now I’ve covered it fairly prettily on my channel.
Come get you the chords for Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx.
Right Here Waiting was top of the charts for what felt like forever when I was a kid, then Hazard appeared, which was also an incredible track, and then Richard Marx seemed to vanish from the radio for years. But I’m old. That was the state of the world at the time, and access to media in the UK wasn’t what it is now. Great artists got buried in the churn of industry. Whatever, get off my lawn, etc.
This song is important to me because, in 1989, Richard Marx turned up, all talented and piano pretty with damned excellent hair, and introduced a quiet, kind masculinity to the charts. One who values you. One who’ll wait. One who’s sensitive. I remember thinking ‘Wow’ at all of this at the time. It still wows me now. (Thanks Richard, for being an example of a good guy, when I needed one.)
It’s a real pretty song, and not hard to play - even if I can’t untrain myself from singing ‘my chance’ in the bridge when the lyric is ‘the chance’. Oh well, it’s dyed in the wool by now…

I’m sure you’ll do a much better job than I did. Go buy the original, because really, Richard Marx is a goddamn gem who deserves your money.
Love always,

P.S. Here’s the original, which is about a thousand times better than mine. Enjoy!
