Christmas Song Advent Calendar: December 8th

Rockin+Around+the+Xmas+Tree.jpg

This cold is the worst. I sound like a Smurf.

In other news I threw a party, and December 8th’s song is late because it was recorded hastily in the five minutes (that I wasn’t cooking masses of food or dressing my infected frame) before my guests came round. It’s a reedy rendition of the fun, festive bop, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree. In hindsight, it came out better than expected, given how difficult it was to breathe… Shame I couldn’t upload it last night, but still.

I’m pretty sure you can do better, so come get the chord sheet!

Let’s be honest, I’m backdating this one anyway. Such is the magic of the interweb.

Things I learned from this video:

  • Which side is the ‘best’ side of my wonky face. (Not the one in the video.)

  • How pale I look in the lights when they’re up a little too high. I adore being pale, but I’d like the image unified, so, good to know.

  • Just how goofy I look at basically all times. That’s okay. It is my weird elastic face, so if goofy is the main parameter, so be it. (Funny women are the hottest anyway, right? Right.)

(The party was a huge success: I made nut roast, roasties, stuffing balls, mashed potay, and masses of other food. Everyone ate every last scrap of the feast and I was left kind of disappointed that there are no leftovers for bubble and squeak. Dammit, I was really looking forward to bubble and squeak, but it’s hard to be mad at the compliment, y’know? I may need to remake that stuff, just to make bubble and squeak.)

Here’s the vid (brace yourselves) and the chord sheet is below

And here’s the chord sheet for Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.pdf

You’ll note that I’ve tweaked the chords a bit as the ones floating around the net seem to me to be missing a vital chord change, that makes it flow and feel nice to play. It’s in my version, baby!

Play it, and sound better than I do, man. Enjoy!

Love always,

Fay
