Chords: Pigeon Street

Pigeon+Street.jpg

You read me right: Pigeon Street, the kids show from the late 70s/early 80s; the one with the absolutely banging theme tune.

It’s short, quite tricky on ukulele, and really, really fun to play. Come get the guitar/ukulele chords!

I decided to do something lighthearted, and a little early this week, because I’m planning on putting up something I wrote on Friday. Something earnest as heck, and true of heart. It just feels right to offset all that serious, honest, nakedness with something like the Pigeon Street theme.

I loved this show when I was a kid. I was inspired by Long Distance Clara, besotted with Mr Jupiter’s dog, and felt peace and excitement all at once when the pidgey sound played at the start. It’s such a great sound.

The chords I’ve laid down for the theme are kind of tricky…but practice makes perfect, right? I didn’t manage it, but it came out well enough, and I hope it makes people smile.

Here’s the Imperfection Project recording:

(It was really sunny, and my girl had zero plans to move from that spot, so…it is what it is.)

And here are the chords I figured out, suitable for guitar and ukulele:

The last chord is an F, but to make it go up up up you have to go up up up the neck and play a major chord shape on the 8th fret. i.e. 10, 9, 8, 8.

I’m sure you’ll do a much better job of the song than I did. Enjoy playing!

Love always,

P.S. I didn’t write it, it’s not mine, if you’d like to enjoy the original you can play it on repeat for hours with the video below…
